Billing International Clients

Let clients outside the US pay you online with Stripe or by international wire.

Clients outside the US often cannot pay by ACH. Give them two ways to pay: online with Stripe, or an international wire with SWIFT details.

Option 1: Online payment with Stripe

  1. Connect Stripe (see How to Connect Stripe).
  2. In Invoices > Settings, set Default payment method to Pay online with Stripe.
  3. Your client clicks Pay online on the invoice and pays by card from any country.

Option 2: International wire

  1. In Invoices > Settings, set Default payment method to Bank transfer.
  2. Under Bank Account Details, fill in Bank name, Account name, Account number and Routing number, plus SWIFT/BIC (required for international wires) and IBAN if your bank provides one.
  3. Click Save Changes. These details now appear on every invoice.

Create the invoice

  1. Add the client with + New contact and fill in their full company name, email, tax Document and Address. International clients often need these on the invoice for their own accounting.
  2. Use Notes for anything specific, such as "Wire fees are paid by the sender" or the client's purchase order number.
  3. Send the invoice (see How to Create an Invoice).

When the payment arrives, it is imported as revenue. International wire fees charged by your bank can be categorized as Payment processing fees.
