How to Connect Stripe

Connecting Stripe does two things: your clients can pay invoices online by card or bank debit, and your Stripe payments, fees and payouts flow into Fynance automatically. You can connect Stripe in two places: on Bank Accounts or in Invoices > Settings. Both connect the same Stripe account, so you only need to do it once.

Option 1: From Bank Accounts

1. Go to Bank Accounts and click Connect Stripe.
2. Sign in to the Stripe account of the same company and approve the connection.
3. Stripe appears in the list as a Payment processor, with its balance In Fynance.
4. To let clients pay invoices online, also set Default payment method to Pay online with Stripe in Invoices > Settings.

Option 2: From Invoice Settings

1. Go to Invoices and click Settings.
2. Find the Stripe card and click the button to connect.
3. You are taken to Stripe. Sign in to the Stripe account of the same company and approve the connection.
4. Back in Fynance, the Stripe card shows Active with "Connected. Your clients can pay invoices online." and the account name.
5. Under Default payment method, select Pay online with Stripe and click Save Changes.

What changes after you connect

• Every new invoice has a Pay online button.
• Stripe appears on the Bank Accounts page as a Payment processor, with its balance In Fynance.
• Invoice payments arrive in Transactions as revenue (for example, Sales Revenue), and Stripe charges arrive as Payment processing fees.
• Stripe payouts to your bank are paired automatically as transfers (see Transfers Awaiting Their Pair), so they are not counted twice.

Disconnect or reconnect

• To stop online payments, click Disconnect on the Stripe card.
• Stripe account history lists every Stripe account this company has connected, with its status (Active, Current, Disconnected). Imported activity and balances stay in your books unless you delete them.
• To bring back an earlier account, click Reconnect this account.

Connect only the Stripe account that belongs to this company. If you manage several companies, switch company in the top bar before connecting.
