Security and Privacy
How Fynance protects your bank connection and your financial data.
Your financial data is sensitive. Fynance is built so that you stay in control of it.
Your bank connection
- Banks are connected through Plaid, a service used by thousands of financial apps. You sign in to your bank on a secure Plaid screen.
- Fynance never sees or stores your bank password.
- The connection is read-only: Fynance can read your transactions and balances, but it can never move your money.
- You can disconnect a bank at any time (see Disconnecting or Reconnecting a Bank).
Your data
- Your data is encrypted.
- Each company's data is separate. People only see a company if they were invited to it (see Giving Access to Your Accountant).
- Stripe is connected with your approval in Stripe, and you can disconnect it at any time (see How to Connect Stripe).
Who can see your books
- Only the users listed on Users for that company. Each has a role: admin, bookkeeping or billing.
- Review the list from time to time and remove people who no longer need access.
- When you connect an AI app (Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini), it reaches only the company you choose when signing in (see Chart of Accounts, Users and Settings).
Good practices
- Use a strong, unique password for Fynance.
- Do not share your login. Invite each person with their own user instead.
- Never share your password with anyone, including messages that claim to be from support.
