Importing Earlier History

Bring in the months before your bank connection so your reports cover the full year.

If your company existed before you connected your bank, bring in the earlier months so your reports cover the full year.

Option 1: Import from your bank connection

  1. When you connect a bank (see First Steps), the History step asks how far back to import. Choose a start date that covers the whole period you need, such as January 1 of the current year.
  2. Some banks limit how much history they share. If months are still missing, use Option 2.

Option 2: Import a CSV file

  1. Download the statements for the missing months from your bank as CSV. Mercury CSV exports can be uploaded as they are.
  2. In Fynance, go to Transactions and click Import CSV. You can also click Import earlier transactions on the warning in Reports.
  3. For other banks, click Download to get the template and fill in date, description, amount and direction (contact and merchant name are optional).
  4. Select the file and click Import Transactions.
  5. Review and confirm the imported transactions in Pending review.

Avoid duplicates

  • Only import dates before your connected history starts. Overlapping dates create duplicate transactions.
  • If you import a duplicate by mistake, select it and click Delete (see Undoing Mistakes).
  • Check that the opening balance of the account matches your bank on the first imported date.
