Your Weekly 10-Minute Routine

A simple weekly habit that keeps your books up to date without piling up work.

Ten minutes once a week is enough to keep your books current. Pick a fixed day, such as Friday morning, and follow these steps.

  1. Refresh. On Bank Accounts, click Refresh transactions to bring in the latest activity from your banks and Stripe.
  2. Clear Pending review. Open Transactions > Pending review. For each transaction, check the contact and category Fyn suggested and click Confirm (see Managing Transactions). If you are unsure, ask Fyn.
  3. Save the week's receipts. Move the receipts and invoices you received this week into your receipts folder, named so you can find them later (see What to Do With Your Receipts).
  4. Record anything outside the bank. Cash payments or expenses you paid personally do not appear automatically. Record them now (see Recording Cash Payments and Personal and Business Expenses).
  5. Check your invoices. On Invoices, look at Awaiting payment and Overdue, and follow up with clients who have not paid.
  6. Glance at the Dashboard. Look at Revenue, Total Costs & Expenses and Net Income. If a number looks strange, find the transaction behind it now, while you still remember it.

Doing this weekly makes the Monthly Close Checklist take only a few minutes at the end of the month.
